Nightingales
Trabuco Hills High School Nightingales
The Trabuco Hills High School Nightingales are an advanced-level treble ensemble open by audition only. As a 45-50 person/4-part voiced ensemble, these singers learn advanced choral literature and continue their choral education in vocal performance, music theory, and musicianship. Through their training in the choral arts, the Nightingales hold firm in their roots as they learn to value the necessity for true dedication in teamwork, humility, and respect.
Throughout the academic year, the Nightingales partake in quarterly concerts with the various ensembles within the THHS Vocal Department. This includes The Festival of Choirs in the October, the Winter Concert in the December, the POPS Concert in March, and the Summer Concert in May/June. This year, they will also be participating in the Music Aliso Women’s Festival, the Southern California Vocal Association Choral Festival (sight-reading), and various choral exchanges with neighboring high school treble ensembles.
Each year, the ensemble also partakes a the WorldStrides state or national choral festival. This gives our singers the opportunity to sing and compete amongst some of the nation’s top high school choral ensembles and gives students the opportunity to travel and sing in the country’s most beautiful concert halls and colleges. This past choral season, our Nightingales participated in their first state festival in Anaheim, California and received the highest score throughout the festival weekend, inviting them to sing in New York City at the world famous Carnegie Hall.

From the President:
Zoey Taylor
My love for singing started very early. There was no question that when I started high school I wanted to sing with the THHS Vocal Department. I was so inspired by my first year as a Nightingale. A small, but mighty group of young women, diverse in background and interest, coming together for a shared passion. While I possessed a great amount of musical curiosity previous to even joining the vocal department, I can truly say that my mind has been introduced to a completely new world. Not only have I learned so much about the technical parts of making music, including emitting emotion, but also the importance of friendship. I have met some of the sweetest, down-to-earth girls. Nightingales was the single stable thing I had entering high school. My first year in this department, I was welcomed by every individual, and I hope that every incoming Nightingale feels the same way. From the moment I became a part of the THHS Vocal Department, I’ve felt an indescribable sense of belonging. This ensemble has become family, and I’m so honored to know such an amazing group of independent, determined women. Recognizing the enormous amount of dedication and growth the Nightingales have already displayed, I have no doubt that much success is to come. “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” ― Plato
